Built for tradespeople.
Not accountants.

Invoicing, expenses and tax-ready exports for UK sole trader tradespeople. That's what TradeTally is.

Why we built this

Most accounting software is built for office teams, not plumbers in a van. You end up paying for payroll, multi-currency, stock and reports you'll never touch, just to send invoices and track expenses.

A lot of tradespeople pay for one tool to manage jobs and another to keep financial records. TradeTally does the core sole trader workflow in one place.

TradeTally does one job: invoices, expenses, receipts, and SA103F-ready figures for UK sole traders. No bloat. £12/month.

What it does

  • Branded, PDF-ready invoices and quotes
  • Expense tracking with receipt scanning
  • SA103F-ready figures for Self Assessment
  • Tax-ready records and SA103F exports for your accountant or compatible MTD software
  • CIS deduction tracking for subcontractors
  • Jobs to link quotes, invoices and expenses
  • Time tracking

Who it's for

TradeTally is for UK sole trader tradespeople: plumbers, electricians, builders, roofers, carpenters, plasterers, painters, decorators, gas engineers, handymen.

It suits people who work on site, not behind a desk. Raise an invoice in the van, snap a receipt before it gets lost, check who owes you from your phone.

It's not a good fit for: VAT-registered businesses with complex books, limited companies with employees, or anyone who needs payroll.

The person behind it

Simon Holyland — founder of TradeTally

Founder & sole operator

Simon Holyland

Plasterer. Builder of TradeTally. Still on the tools.

TradeTally is built by Simon Holyland — a plasterer who still works the tools.

A few years back the invoicing and tax admin was the worst part of the week. Shoe-box receipts, a spreadsheet that never quite worked, and a tax return that always crept up on me. The software aimed at tradespeople felt like it was built for accountants in offices, not for someone finishing a ceiling at 4pm who needs to send an invoice from the van before the traffic gets bad.

So I built the tool I wanted: invoices you can raise on-site, receipts you snap before they get lost, and figures that line up with the SA103F at tax time. Everything is made around how a sole trader actually works — because that's still how I work.

TradeTally is a one-person, UK-based operation. There's no call centre and no account manager — just me, a van, and software that does the admin so you can get back to the job.

The operator

TradeTally is built and operated by Simon Holyland, trading as Sima Digital, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom.
